PERMAPYRENEES-2

The PERMAPYRENEES-2 project (EFA 191/06) is an Interreg POCTEFA project, with a duration of 2 years, 11 months and 30 days (01/04/2026 – 31/03/2029), co-financed by the European Union, which aims to expand the study areas, complementing the PERMAPYRENEES project (EFA 063/01), towards the east and towards the eastern, western and southern margins of the Pyrenees. The aim is to include a significant portion of the high-mountain massifs, situated between 2,800 and 3,000 metres above sea level, characterised by great lithological diversity (Puigpedrós, Carlit, Posets and Néouvielle).

Study areas for both studies: Puigpedrós, Carlit, Besiberri, Argualas, Néouvielle, Aneto, Maladeta, Clots de la Menera, Lac de Nère and Pica d'Estats.

Furthermore, the project integrates new technologies and methodologies that allow for the improved detection of areas with potential rockfall risk, as well as the quantification of movement in slopes affected by processes related to the presence of permafrost. In parallel, knowledge transfer activities are being strengthened towards territories potentially exposed to these natural hazards.
