The Living Pyrenees Education network was created in 1997 with the aim of bringing together organisations with common goals. With the impulse of the Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux (LPO) of France and from 2003, reinforced by some experiences and the interest in raising awareness of the environment and biodiversity of the Pyrenees, the network was created with the environmental education of the Pyrenees as a central axis to create educational resources and participate in cross-border projects for the enhancement of heritage.
Andorra joined the project in 2013 as a result of its participation in the European cross-border cooperation programmes of Spain, France and Andorra (POCTEFA).
Since its constitution, the Living Pyrenees Education network has organised annual meetings within the Pyrenean territory to publicise the projects both at the level of entities and organised jointly through the network, in trans-Pyrenean projects.

The Living Pyrenees Education network currently brings together 83 environmental education organisations and professionals from Catalonia, Navarre, Aragon, France, the Basque Country and Andorra.
