The datahub is a set of systems and applications that, grouped under a single technological infrastructure, are used to work with very large sets of data in order to extract information, analyze cases or predict trends in different aspects such as mobility, tourist influx, expenditure or the correlation between different types of variables.
The initial idea of the project was to have a platform that would act as a central data collection and processing entity for different actors in the country, thus promoting the use of data science for decision making. The initiative started with the use of location data from mobile phones and, step by step, other types of data were added (vehicle tracking data, thermal cameras, aggregated credit card usage data, etc.). In the first instance, data viewers were set for the study of tourist movements and expenditures, which were shared with the Department of Statistics of the Government of Andorra and with Andorra Turisme (the national touristic promotion agency).
