Data analytics for Tourism

As part of the collaboration between Andorra Telecom and Andorra Research + Innovation, and working together with Andorra Tourism and other promoters, reports have been produced to analyze the flow of people, both national and foreign, at major events in the country. Studies have been conducted for various entities in Andorra and for events such as Andorra Taste, La Vuelta, the Alpine Ski World Cup, and the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup (all during 2023 and 2024).

To infer visitor behavior and attendance dynamics of both foreign and national attendees at these events, anonymized mobile phone data provided by Andorra Telecom has been used. This data allows for the geolocation of mobile phones connected to the network while complying with Andorra's Qualified Data Protection Law.

This information has enabled a statistical analysis by nationality of the mobile phones present, giving organizers the ability to better plan actions and evaluate returns for future editions of these events. It has also helped to compare attendance forecasts with actual data, allowing for the analysis of the effectiveness of communication campaigns.
