Minister Marsol explains the National Plan for Innovation and Diversification to the country's economic and social agents

The Minister of the Presidency, Economy, Business and Housing, Conxita Marsol, with the Secretary of State for Business, Economic Diversification and Innovation, Marc Saura, the director of Andorra Business (AB), Judit Hidalgo, and the manager of Andorra Research and Innovation (AR+I), Marta Domènech, have presented on Monday the National Plan for Innovation and Diversification to the economic and social agents of the country.

After presenting it on October 10th to the Legislative Committee on Economy of the General Council, Monday was the turn of representatives from strategic sectors considered fundamental for contributing to the development of the Plan, such as the education, health, tourism, economic, and financial sectors, as well as clusters (Actinn and Andorra Sports Cluster), the parishes, and the Government. It is planned that this same week the presentation will be repeated, also at the offices shared by AB and AR+I in Andorra la Vella, in front of the rest of the agents of the country that have some connection with research and innovation.

The National Plan for Innovation and Diversification commits the Executive to progressively increase public investment in this field — from the 1.75% planned for 2026 up to 7–8% of the budget — to promote a new economic model based on the competitiveness of innovation, research, and technology in hyper-specialized sectors that are considered strategic for the country’s economic diversification.

The Plan is based on the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Strategy 2021-2030, developed with the participation of more than 40 public and private stakeholders.

In the same way she did before at the legislative committee, Minister Marsol has reminded that “the worst thing we could do would be to remain still in a context of accelerated global transformation,” and emphasized that “Andorra can act with more agility than other countries to establish itself as a technological and socio-economic innovation ecosystem.”

The two informational sessions scheduled for this week aim to introduce the Plan to the agents considered strategic, with the goal that its implementation can involve the maximum number of participants possible for a cross-cutting and comprehensive project.
