Andorra promotes its innovation plan at 4YFN 2026

Andorra seeks start-ups to transform its innovation ecosystem at 4YFN 2026 | Andorra Altitude

Andorra Recerca i Innovació (AR+I) is participating in the 2026 edition of 4YFN, the leading event for startups and innovation ecosystems held within the framework of the Mobile World Congress (MWC), taking place from March 2nd to 5th. The Andorran presence, with a shared stand alongside Andorra Business (8.1C63.1), has served to showcase the country’s value proposition in innovation, placing the National Plan for Innovation and Economic Diversification, “Andorra Altitude”, positioning strategy at the forefront, as well as highlighting the Andorra Living Lab as a real-world environment for the validation of technological solutions.

The delegation welcomed an institutional visit led by the Minister of Presidency, Economy, Labour and Housing, Ms. Conxita Marsol, accompanied by the Ambassador of Andorra to the Kingdom of Spain, Ms. Eva Descarrega, and the Secretary of State for Enterprise, Economic Diversification and Innovation, Marc Saura.

Within the framework of the event, the delegation held working meetings with the Director of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and with the management team of Eurecat, as well as with startups and key stakeholders from the international innovation ecosystem. The objective was to explore new avenues for collaboration in strategic areas linked to the Principality’s technological development and economic diversification.

International call for startups in hyper-specialisation sectors

AR+I is opening its doors to national and international entrepreneurs interested in exploring opportunities, building synergies and validating solutions in real environments, with a focus on health, sport and nature, and sustainable construction.

The National Plan for Innovation and Economic Diversification sets the roadmap for Andorra’s transition towards a knowledge-based, technology-driven economic model that generates high value-added opportunities and positions innovation as a strategic pillar of the country’s development.

In this context, AR+I, in collaboration with Andorra Business, is launching a call for startups aligned with the country’s defined hyper-specialisation areas, aimed at identifying and attracting disruptive and innovative technological solutions across three strategic priority domains:

  1. Technology for Life and Health: As Andorra follows the broader European demographic trend towards increased longevity, the country is exploring digital solutions to enhance the wellbeing and autonomy of its ageing population. In addition, the geographical dispersion of part of the population makes remote healthcare management a priority, with the goal of reducing unnecessary travel in a context shaped by mobility challenges.
  2. Sport and Nature as Living Innovation Lab: Andorra’s territory, characterised by a high-quality natural environment and high-mountain biodiversity, provides a privileged setting for research and innovation. Startups in these sectors have the opportunity to test and validate their products under real conditions and to engage in initiatives such as the Sports Innovation Hub Scale Up Programme, which fosters the scalability of cutting-edge sports solutions.
  3. Sustainable Construction: High visitor inflows and increasing housing demand are driving the need to rethink construction models. In this context, Andorra promotes the integration of new materials and low-impact processes that ensure energy efficiency and sustainability, both in construction costs and throughout the lifecycle of buildings.

What is Andorra looking for — and what does it offer?

At 4YFN, Andorra aims to attract startups with technological solutions at TRL 4 or above and with a genuine interest in exploring use cases within a controlled yet real-world environment.

In return, the country offers a distinctive value proposition:

  • Direct connection with Andorra’s business ecosystem.
  • Access to the Andorra Living Lab, the world’s first country-scale living lab certified by ENoLL, providing a real-world framework for the validation of innovative projects and facilitating the development and adoption of new technologies.
  • Strategic support for the design and implementation of pilot projects based on mutual alignment and shared interest.
